By creating a Taalk account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. Our Privacy Policy explains how we process personal data.
1. What Taalk is
Taalk is a communications service built around calls, messaging, shared call history, and availability.
Depending on the features available to you, Taalk may allow you to:
- make and receive calls;
- request and schedule calls;
- send direct and group messages;
- use a public taalk.to page or link;
- share call topics, urgency, and expected duration;
- indicate and estimate availability;
- connect calendars;
- transcribe calls;
- create AI-generated summaries, briefings, and action items;
- search previous calls, transcripts, summaries, and messages; and
- use other communications and productivity features we introduce.
Features may change as Taalk develops.
2. Age and eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to create or use a Taalk account.
By using Taalk, you confirm that:
- you are at least 16;
- you have legal capacity to agree to these Terms; and
- applicable law permits you to use Taalk.
If you use Taalk on behalf of an organisation, you confirm that you have authority to do so.
3. Your account
You are responsible for keeping your account information accurate and for protecting access to your account and devices.
You must not:
- impersonate another person;
- create an account using another person's identity without permission;
- knowingly give another person unauthorised access to your account;
- circumvent security or account restrictions; or
- use Taalk for fraudulent or unlawful activity.
Contact us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.
4. Public profiles and discoverability
Depending on your settings, Taalk may allow other users to find you using information such as your display name, phone number, email address, or Taalk username or slug.
You may also be able to create a public taalk.to page.
Information you choose to expose publicly may be accessible to anyone with the link and may be shared outside Taalk. Depending on your settings and the information you provide, a public page may include your name or display name, profile photograph, company, headline, profile information, timezone, languages, social links, availability, and supported ways to contact you.
You are responsible for deciding what information you make public.
5. Calls and availability
Taalk may allow users to call each other, request calls, schedule calls, send Waves or similar signals, indicate current or future availability, and use estimated availability.
Availability information is an estimate. Taalk does not guarantee that another person is actually available, will answer, will accept a call request, or will be available at a predicted time.
6. Transcription
Taalk provides optional transcription and may provide different transcription modes.
6.1 Your controls
Depending on the features and settings available to you, Taalk may allow you to:
- turn transcription on or off during a call;
- automatically request transcription for certain calls; and
- automatically accept certain transcription requests.
You are responsible for the transcription preferences you select and can change available preferences through Taalk.
6.2 On-device transcription
Taalk may provide an on-device transcription mode.
When on-device transcription is used, speech recognition is performed on your device without sending the call audio to a cloud speech-to-text service for transcription.
6.3 Cloud transcription
Taalk may also provide a cloud-assisted transcription mode.
When cloud transcription is used, live audio needed for speech recognition is transmitted securely from your device to a third-party speech-to-text service provider, which processes the audio to generate transcript text.
Taalk then processes the resulting transcript to provide features such as shared call history, search, summaries, action items, and related functionality.
Taalk does not intentionally retain a conventional reusable audio recording merely because cloud transcription is enabled.
Our Privacy Policy provides more information about how third-party service providers process information on our behalf.
6.4 No conventional call recording
Taalk's transcription feature is designed to convert speech into text.
Taalk does not intentionally create or retain a conventional reusable audio recording merely because transcription is enabled.
When cloud transcription is used, live audio is transmitted to a third-party service provider for the limited purpose of generating the transcript.
6.5 Your responsibility for notice and consent
You are responsible for complying with the laws that apply to your use of transcription.
Depending on where participants are located, applicable law may require you to:
- tell other participants that transcription is taking place;
- obtain consent;
- obtain consent from every participant; or
- refrain from transcription.
You must not enable, request, or use transcription where doing so would be unlawful.
Taalk may provide notices, indicators, and controls concerning transcription, but those features do not determine whether your use is lawful in your circumstances. Taalk does not provide legal advice about recording or transcription laws.
7. Shared transcript records
Where transcription is used, Taalk may centrally store the finalized transcript as part of the shared call record.
We do this so the transcript and related call information can remain available to participants in that call across supported devices and features, including:
- shared call history;
- transcript access;
- search;
- AI summaries and briefings;
- action items; and
- related call context.
Temporary transcript data used during a live call may be handled differently from the finalized transcript and may have a shorter retention period.
Because a finalized transcript is shared call content, one participant deleting their account does not necessarily delete the shared transcript or call record from the accounts of the remaining participants.
8. AI features
Taalk may use artificial intelligence and other automated systems to provide:
- call summaries;
- action items;
- extracted topics;
- speaker attribution;
- suggested follow-ups;
- call briefings;
- search assistance; and
- other generated outputs.
8.1 On-device AI
Where supported, Taalk may use Apple Intelligence or other on-device models to generate AI features locally.
8.2 Cloud AI
Taalk may use third-party AI service providers to generate AI-assisted features.
When cloud AI is used, relevant information may be transmitted to those providers, including transcript text, call context, existing action items, task or cancellation context, and other information needed to generate the requested output.
Taalk's AI service providers are not permitted to use Taalk customer content to train or improve their general models.
Our Privacy Policy provides more information about how third-party service providers process information on our behalf.
8.3 No model training on private Taalk content
Taalk does not use private calls, messages, transcripts, or AI summaries to train general-purpose AI models.
Taalk's current speech-to-text and cloud AI providers are not permitted to use Taalk customer content to train or improve their general models.
8.4 AI can be wrong
AI-generated and automated information may be inaccurate, incomplete, misleading, incorrectly attributed, or missing important context.
You are responsible for reviewing important output before relying on it.
A Taalk AI summary is not an authoritative or verbatim record of the conversation.
Do not rely solely on Taalk-generated output for significant legal, medical, financial, employment, or other high-impact decisions.
9. Free and premium processing
The processing method available to you may depend on your Taalk plan, device capabilities, settings, and feature availability.
Some Taalk features may use on-device processing, while others may use third-party cloud services to provide transcription, AI-assisted features, or related functionality.
Taalk may make premium features available to some or all users without charge for a trial, promotion, launch period, or other limited period.
Temporary or complimentary access to premium functionality does not create a permanent entitlement to those features, and Taalk may change which features are included in free or paid plans, subject to applicable law.
10. Messages and user content
Taalk allows users to create and share content such as messages, profile information, call topics, transcripts, notes, reactions, and other supported information ("User Content").
You retain ownership of User Content you create.
You give Taalk a limited, non-exclusive licence to host, transmit, process, reproduce, and display User Content only as reasonably necessary to:
- provide the Service;
- deliver information to intended recipients;
- operate features you request;
- maintain safety and security;
- comply with law; and
- enforce these Terms.
Information already delivered to another participant may remain in that participant's account or on their device.
Taalk does not currently promise that an individual message you have sent can be deleted from every recipient's history.
11. Groups
Taalk may allow users to create or participate in groups.
Group information may include group name, ownership, membership, administrators, group messages, group calls, invitation permissions, and group-management activity.
Group owners or administrators may have additional controls.
12. Contacts
If you give Taalk access to contacts stored on your device, you confirm that you are permitted to provide that information for the purposes described in our Privacy Policy.
You must not use contact syncing or invitation features for spam, harassment, unlawful marketing, or other prohibited activity.
13. Calendar integrations
If you connect a calendar, Taalk may use calendar timing and free/busy information to support scheduling, call coordination, and availability.
Taalk does not guarantee that calendar information or availability calculations will always be accurate.
You can disconnect a supported calendar through the available settings.
14. Acceptable use
You must not use Taalk to:
- violate applicable law;
- threaten, harass, stalk, or abuse another person;
- impersonate another person or organisation;
- commit or facilitate fraud;
- send spam or unsolicited bulk communications;
- distribute malware or phishing material;
- compromise Taalk's security;
- gain unauthorised access to systems or accounts;
- collect personal information unlawfully;
- unlawfully transcribe or monitor conversations;
- infringe another person's privacy or intellectual-property rights;
- sexually exploit or endanger children;
- facilitate serious criminal activity; or
- deliberately harm Taalk, its users, or its infrastructure.
Our Community Guidelines provide additional information.
15. Blocking and abuse reports
Taalk provides blocking functionality for supported communications.
If you believe another user is abusing Taalk, contact support@taalk.app.
We may investigate reported misuse and restrict, suspend, or terminate accounts where reasonably necessary to protect Taalk, users, or others.
16. Analytics and technical operation
Taalk may use analytics and technical information to understand how the Service is used, diagnose problems, improve features, measure product performance, and protect the Service.
More information is provided in the Privacy Policy.
17. Third-party services
Taalk depends on or integrates with services operated by other organisations. These may include providers for authentication, real-time communications, speech recognition, AI processing, calendar connections, notifications, analytics, email, SMS verification, storage, and hosting.
Third-party services may also have their own terms and privacy policies.
18. Experimental and changing features
Taalk may introduce experimental, beta, or early-access functionality.
Such functionality may change, contain errors, be unavailable temporarily, or be discontinued.
We may improve, change, or replace features as Taalk evolves, subject to applicable law.
19. Fees and subscriptions
Taalk may offer paid features.
Before charging you, we will disclose relevant pricing and billing terms.
If purchases are made through Apple's App Store or another platform, that platform's billing and cancellation rules also apply.
Nothing in these Terms limits mandatory consumer rights.
20. Intellectual property
Taalk, including its software, design, branding, and technology, is owned by Asynchronous Global AB or our licensors.
We give you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and revocable licence to use Taalk in accordance with these Terms.
You may not copy, redistribute, reverse engineer, resell, or commercially exploit Taalk except where applicable law expressly permits it.
21. Feedback
If you voluntarily give us suggestions or feedback, you allow us to use that feedback to improve Taalk without an obligation to compensate you.
This does not transfer ownership of your private communications or other User Content to us.
22. Account deletion
You may delete your Taalk account using the deletion functionality available in the app.
Deletion begins removal or anonymisation of personal information controlled by Taalk that we no longer need to retain, subject to:
- information that forms part of a shared call, transcript, message, or other record still available to another participant;
- legal obligations;
- security and fraud-prevention requirements;
- dispute handling; and
- normal backup lifecycles.
Deleting your account does not necessarily erase information another participant has already received or independently retained.
23. Suspension and termination
You may stop using Taalk at any time.
We may restrict, suspend, or terminate access where reasonably necessary because:
- you materially or repeatedly breach these Terms;
- your use creates a security or safety risk;
- we reasonably suspect fraud or unlawful activity;
- we are legally required to act; or
- continued provision of Taalk is no longer reasonably possible.
Where required, we will provide appropriate notice.
24. Service availability
Taalk is not guaranteed to operate continuously or without error.
Taalk must not be relied upon as the sole way to contact emergency services. Do not rely on Taalk for communications where delayed or failed delivery could create an immediate risk of serious harm.
25. Liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability or consumer rights where doing so would be unlawful.
If you use Taalk as a consumer, mandatory consumer protections continue to apply.
We are not responsible for losses caused solely by:
- your unlawful use of Taalk;
- your failure to obtain legally required transcription notice or consent;
- false or inaccurate information supplied by another user;
- your unreasonable reliance on AI-generated information;
- third-party systems outside our reasonable control; or
- circumstances we could not reasonably prevent.
For business users, to the maximum extent permitted by law, neither party is liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profit, lost revenue, or lost opportunity, except where such exclusion is prohibited.
26. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how Asynchronous Global AB processes personal data.
Agreement to these Terms does not replace a lawful basis for processing where privacy law requires one.
27. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms where reasonably necessary because of changes to Taalk, legal or regulatory requirements, security needs, changes in our business model, or clarification of existing provisions.
If a change materially affects your rights, we will provide appropriate notice.
28. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by Swedish law.
If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of mandatory consumer protections available under the law of your country of residence.
You may contact us first to attempt to resolve a complaint.
Eligible Swedish consumer disputes may also be referred to the Swedish National Board for Consumer Disputes (Allmanna reklamationsnamnden, ARN).
For business disputes, Swedish courts have jurisdiction, with Stockholm District Court as the court of first instance unless otherwise agreed.
29. General
If a provision is unenforceable, the remainder of these Terms continues to apply.
Failure to enforce a provision immediately does not waive the right to enforce it later.
We may transfer these Terms in connection with a merger, financing, reorganisation, or sale of our business, subject to applicable law.
